Pyraxis

Pyraxis is a chain of volatile, fire-scorched islands dominated by towering volcanoes, molten rivers of lava, and sulfurous smoke that fills the skies. The islands constantly rumble with seismic activity, and eruptions are a common occurrence. The landscape is a harsh mix of jagged obsidian rocks, bubbling hot springs, and molten lakes. Despite the fierce environment, Pyraxis is home to the Volcanic Merfolk, a fierce and resilient race of sea-dwellers who have learned to coexist with the islands' fiery nature.

The merfolk of Pyraxis have evolved to withstand the extreme heat, their bodies covered in tough, shimmering scales that reflect the molten glow of their surroundings. They possess a unique bond with the fire dragons that dwell deep within the volcanoes. These dragons, massive and ancient, have a symbiotic relationship with the merfolk, protecting the islands in exchange for the merfolk's aid in maintaining the balance of fire and magic within Pyraxis.

The Volcanic Merfolk are known for their warrior culture, their society forged in the crucible of fire and conflict. They are masters of Flame Magic, able to manipulate fire and lava as easily as water, and are often called upon to defend the seas from intruders. However, their isolation and pride have led to strained relationships with the other merfolk kingdoms. Despite this, Pyraxis holds great importance, as the balance of fire on the islands affects the magical equilibrium of the entire world of Ondura.
